Stem Elements

The heavenly stem carries one of the five elements; this is what each lends the year.

Wood

A Wood stem grows toward something: directed, and impatient with a season spent consolidating.

Fire

A Fire stem gives heat and light while there is fuel, and spends itself faster than it means to.

Earth

An Earth stem is the stabilising one, holding the middle and slow to be moved off it.

Metal

A Metal stem cuts and refines: exacting, and more comfortable removing than adding.

Water

A Water stem takes the shape of what contains it, which is adaptability from one side and evasion from the other.
